Thanks for the reminder....
But I just thought this deserved it's own discussion, not hijacking a Griffey injury thread

Great move by the NL to get Beltran his rightful place in the All Star game.

Does anyone know who will replace Griffey in the Home Run Derby? My friends and I are having a competition on that.
Roger Angell: I was talking with Bob Gibson and I said: 'Are you always this competitive?' He said: 'Oh, I think so. I got a three-year old daughter, and I've played about 500 games of tic-tac-toe with her and she hasn't beat me yet.'

I don't believe Beltran should be placed on the All-Star team in place of other legitimate candidates who have played in more NL games up to this point.

boooooo!
beltran shouldn't be in the AS game. he doesn't play for the AL anymore, so he can't play there, and he's simply NOT an NL allstar! JD Drew has put up far better numbers in the NL this year. He (or adrian beltre or......) deserves to go.
It sucks for beltran, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.
or apperantly it doesn't. but I still think this is a load of crap.
here's a question: what if beltran had been traded after the AS game, and in it, he'd hit the game winner for the AL sqad. but now, on an NL team in the WS, he has ensured that his team doesn't get home field advantage.
just another reason why "now it counts" is STUPID.
