In Fantasy Baseball, is it possible to have a favorite team?

Postby Y`s Guy » Sat Apr 12, 2003 11:24 pm

I am a Yankee fan. But how can I root for Moose if the guy in first place has him? How can I cheer for my Yanks when they play the Red Sox...though I have Walker, Nomar and Manny?!?

My fiancee thinks I'm nuts each time I say "Hey, I own this guy!".

Or when you see a score that means your pitcher got shelled and you yell "Sh*t!". People look at you wierd.

So, how difficult for you is it to have a favorite team when most of the players are owned by your competition?

It is really strange- My team is the AOL'rs(ex,Braves)-I find myself
pulling for the players on my team- tonight go Pierre and Castillio
and hoping Sheffield also has a good game. It's really tough when
you have a sp of your favorite team pitching against several batters
of your fantasy team. Every time I pull for what is best for my
fantasy team in baseball.
Football is different, screw my fantasy team, go Titans !

Well, I live and die with my Steelers and Reds, and I play both fantasy leagues. If one of my pitchers gets smashed by Cincy, I'll be happy, and if one of my pitchers shuts down the Reds, I won't like it, but it does make the loss feel a little better. But as above, in football, I usually won't even start a player against Pittsburgh, no matter how good, and if I have to, there is no compensation for him doing well. It really isn't that hard, my teams come first, fantasy is just for fun

;-D here's the cure .. get like four fantasy teams. It lessens the effect becuase you now own lot's of player's. Then you can be a Yankees hack again.

Funny though .. I have been sitting in a restaurant or public place and yelled "chit" a number of times .. people just stare. It funny.

I just cheer for my team and don't think about fantasy when I watch one of the YANKEES games. Then later I just look at the boxscore of the game at my players for fantasy-wise thrills.

If I do get involved with fantasy when watching the Yanks play. I cheer for them to get singles, doubles, or even triples, and then get stranded.
