I guess he finally put on some weight. He's not eating that much rice anymore. He decided to go to Burger King at least once a week to get big and strong...

Ok, enough...This is interesting, cause he sucked so far. I wonder if he can keep it up...

Perhaps he's getting used to the power pitching here. Back in Japan, they relied on deception (e.g. Takatsu).

yep, that and i guess him getting used to stuff in mlb. give credit to Don Baylor also (last i heard he was tryin to make Matsui more comfy at the plate and make him get his feet closer to outside pitches) !

im real happy with what hes done in this stretch. ;-D

It doesn't hurt that he's hitting in front of Piazza. ;-)

This is about the same time last year that Hideki started to turn it up. Not that that really means anything but it's interesting. The surprising thing is that his defense has really improved in the same stretch.

Also funny to mention that his explosion directly coincides with Donald Trump calling him out on Sportscenter. I read that this clip was aired in Japan.
