Glaus for Hinske

Postby nkeitt » Tue Jul 16, 2002 7:45 am

I was recently offered Troy Glaus for Eric Hinske and I am interested in your opinions. On the one hand you have a guy who is underachieving a bit and could break out in the second half of the season. On the other you have a guy who is surpassing expectations, but could falter down the stretch if the long season begins to wear on him. So what do you think? Will Hinske keep up his level of performance? Will Glaus tear it up in the second half? Who's the better bet? (Keep in mind I also have Nevin...)

So far, Hinske has amazingly been a bit better than Glaus. But you're right: Glaus could crank it up, while Hinske is near his ceiling and could drop off. It's not as obvious a decision as it might look, but I'd take Glaus in a heartbeat.

whereas hinske has been terrific this year, i still think glaus is the better option. he's been on fire of late and the time to make that deal is diminishing quickly. i'd take glaus anyday.

I went ahead and made the trade. I think I have seen too many rookies wear out towards the end of a season to think that Hinske will keep this up into September, even though he did have that two homer game against the Sox recently (sorry Arlo!). :,-(

Ah - my mistake. Yeah, those homers really hurt, especially the one that won it for the Jays. :,-(
