Who do you think will put up better #'s from here on out. Both have had a great first half and both play in good lineups. Thome seems to have been slumping for the past month with avg and Blalock seems to be leaving the yard less frequently lately. Who would you guys rather have?

Exactly. Even if he cools off a little, Thome has been consistently good for a long time. Blalock is up and coming, and if he put up numbers as good as Thome it wouldn't surprise me. If you're looking to land one in a trade, Blalock wouldn't cost you as much.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
i'm probably going to be alone here but i think there is a decent case to go with blalock here primarily b/c of the position he plays but also because I can't see thome distancing himself TOO much in terms of 2nd half HR's.
these guys are very close in BA and OBP so far this season (thome with the better OBP, hank with the better average) so it's not like there is a HUGE gap between the two.

Well according to the thread title he's using him as a CI so you have to consider them as the same position.
