point taken. I saw that same quote in a NJ paper where it was made to look more like "I'm not going there" as in "I'm not touching that topic"...
believe me, I understand the media and the games they play, but it's still fun to speculate. Hell, he could end up on some darkhorse team for all we know!

2 words: Salary Dump
it's not just Contreras and Navarro - it's Contreras with his (most of) salary paid and Navarro..makes a heck of a lot more sense. Best part about the Yankees (if you're a fan) they CAN afford to this. And to lure Randy in, we offer a 2 year extension so he can get his 300 wins. Again, they CAN afford to do this.
That's why you will see RJ pitching in the Bronx this summer and fall.
Sorry it's a little late, but I just had to bring this back up. Rmeesig you talked a lot of smack about how Johnson would be going to the Yankees. You even fitted him for pinstripes in one post in this thread.
No "yeah buts" or anything dealing with anything else. Just admit you blew this one and then the next time you make a guarantee I'll give it at least a bit of belief
haha...oh well...maybe the DBacks will make a strong run, make it to the WS - in which case Randy WILL be pitching in the Bronx this fall!!
or maybe I was wrong. Guess that's why I'm just a fantasy mgr, and not a real one.

yeah, you were wrong. And the all-too-often Yankee fan belief that they will always get the best player available is quite annoying.
Anyway, I think I told you that he wouldn't be going anywhere...

Well done
Really I didn't mean to bring it up to be an ass but I just believe that if you make statements like that, you have to be held accountable.
Oh cut the guy some slack. We were all just guessing anyway.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Seriously. I don't know of anyone who's been jumping on the backs of Sox fans who said Nomar wouldn't be dealt. What's the point? To make yourself feel better because someone else was wrong?

I would expect better from you, T-Mo. If you want me to explain why a lot of Yankee fans feel that way, I will.
