just gonna throw something out there... David Ortiz leads mlb in game winning/tying hits since last year's AS break.
i think right now its close.... Ortiz has been more "clutch" (using that kinda loosely ) if i had to.. id got for Manny. he has "better" numbers than Vlad right now... Manny has been the best and the most productive hitter in the AL up until now. his numbers speak for themselves. hes second in the AL in obp (only .001 behind the big hurt) and by a significant margin the 1st in AL in slug.
first in both rbis and HR's. 4th in BA.
the only person in all of MLB to be in the top 5 in his league in BA, HR's and ribbies.
some pretty convincing evidence imo.
Vlad hasnt been particularly hot for the past few games but i think Vlad's gonna make a serious run. at the end i think it'll be one of these four guys... Vlad, Manny, David and A-rod. i'll gove Manny the nod for now
Manny Ramirez....$20 million
Pedro Martinez....$17.5 million
Curt Schilling...$12 million (and a $2 million bonus)
Never hearing a Yankee fan chant 1918 again...priceless.

i think ortiz is 1st in rbi not manny....from tonights game:
RBI - D Ortiz (77), M Ramirez 3 (71)
even so i think manny REPRESENTS the redsox and thats what the MVP is for, the player that carries his team and is really THE MAN for that team if that makes sense. when you think redsox, you think pedro and manny, those are the 2 guys for the sox ( i know schillng is lights out but pedro is the sox) so with stats close, manny gets it for being the bosox figurehead.
RBI are random.... Manny has been a much better hitter this year. Since Ortiz spends at least half his games as the DH, he shoud'nt get an edge in fielding either. No question Manny deserves it more than him.

my total bad...
but hes still the ONLY guy in all of MLB to be in the top 5 of his league in HR, RBI and Runs as well.
yup, i agree. hes clearly been the best hitter in the AL so far. also leads the AL in TB, ops, runs created and is 2nd in XBH and obp.. theres just too much evidence.
plus i dont wanna take away from how awesome Ortiz has been but he has had a ton of protection from Manny hitting behind him.

I'm going with Pudge over Manny or Ortiz or anyone else. Dude switched leagues, is playing without a a lot of injured starters and still hasn't missed a beat
[quote:4fef447375="Geek"]The odds of the AL MVP coming from the American League are looking pretty good.
and for those he say vlad has carried his team, he sure has... but only to a 44-40 record. There was a long while where Manny was carrying the team by himself, and until about a week ago, it was still only Manny and Ortiz. He's led his team to a 46-37 record.
