Did Hippo Vaughn of the Cubs complain that a baserunner was tipping his pitches so much so that he refused to throw another. After a heated argument he Cubs ended up forfeiting the game to the Dodgers

I just typed in Hippo's name and after giving some stats on him, it listed some of the interesting dates from his career. That forfeit and the double no-hitters that he and Fred Toney threw were probably the most famous dates from there.
