They first asked Pujols to replace Griffey but he has a sore ankle so he declined. Thus Berkman is in it.
Giambi can't do it but I have no idea who's going to replace him. I thought initially Vlad was in it but then they had Blalock over him. Maybe Vladdy gets in it now, if he didn't already decline.

Sosa'll walk away with it.

Manny Ramirez....$20 million
Pedro Martinez....$17.5 million
Curt Schilling...$12 million (and a $2 million bonus)
Never hearing a Yankee fan chant 1918 again...priceless.

I agree. Especially since he's the only righty. He'll be jacking them over the train tracks...
I'll be rooting for Thome, Berkman or maybe Ortiz.
Anybody know who replaces Giambi??

My fantasy league has a contest for two free transactions if you pick the winner. Want to stir up some interest in the competition maybe implement a rule like this. Everyone in our league is pumped about this years event.
AS1-Each franchise will pick a player they think will win the HR hitting contest. The last place team prior to the game will get first pick and first place team will pick last with no player picked more than twice. The franchises that pick the HR champion will get two free-transactions.
AS2-Each owner will pick which league they think will win the All-Star game. Each owner that chooses the winner will get one free-transaction.
AS3-Any owner that guesses the exact final score front-wards or back-wards will get $5 off.

does anyone publish a betting line/odds for specific participant's chances of winning the Derby? I have only been able to find a line for the all-star game itself but am curious if anyone knows who is favored (per a reputable line) to win the derby....

I don't know where to find this but I would imagine Sosa being a heavy favorite.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. -Crash Davis
Stewie : [watching a baseball game] Why does that man drop his club before he runs? I would bring it with me!

Bonds won't win. Something tells me he'll hit like 1 homerun in the first round. I predict the finals to be Sosa vs. Thome.

what about underdog hammerin hank blalock? he may not **WOW** the crowd like sosa or thome with absurd 500+ ft bombs but he could be steady enough to go yard a few times more....
so no dice on individual lines for these guys? I would really like to see who vegas would put for their top 3-4.
based on namesake alone i can imagine bonds would command alot of betting action as the favorite, but i am casting my vote for Berkman, with blalock as my upset special.
