Why doesnt this guy hit leadoff??

His OBP is good and he has very good speed...

I dont get it :-/

BTW is David Wells injured or something, i thought i heard someone say that but i cant find any info?

didn't they try that last year at some point?


btw, he doesn't lead off because he is too good a hitter... what you really want in the leadoff spot is someone whose OBP is mainly due to walks and HBPs...

Is this a fact? I can see why he doesn't from a standpoint of driving in runners. I'd personally bat him 2nd because of his OBP and speed, so he can set the table for the big guys like Thome and Burrell.

as a fantasy owner, i kinda like him hitting third. ;-)

most of the leadoff guys in the majors dont even have extremely high obps in the first place. usually the best obps in the game are from patient no. 3 and 4 guys. [/i]

and ye, Abreu not wanting to hit leadoff is a fact. last year down the stretch when Rollins was having a stinky season, Bowa wanted Abreu to hit leadoff as they werent getting any production from Rollins. but he refused at first... and then i think he did hit leadoff for a lil but im not totally sure.
