In another thread I mentioned a trade offer I made in a 5x5 league
where I am desperate for stolen bases. The responses were all negative...the trade looked like this:
Carlos Beltran and Denys Baez
for
Carl Crawford and Francisco Cordero
Well guys, I was rejected...you guys must play in head to head leagues because I could see arguments that would make Carl Crawford the MVP of 5x5 leagues.
Crawford was on my "must have" draft day list for all of my fantasy teams (roto and h2h). He's been great and I'm in first in 4 out of 6 leagues. It would have to be a 3 for 2 trade for me to even consider trading him.
The trade looks ok, but wouldn't move me to pull the trigger. I'd feel sellers remorse at dealing Crawford. Depending on any other weakness the other team has, you could offer him a third player that would either fit into his starting lineup or be a valuable bench player. JMO
Coming from a Crawford owner I can respect your opinion...looks like I might have to offer Beltran for Crawford straight up.
It looks as if Beltran will not be stealing as much as he did in KC...so he hits 20 homeruns with 60 RBI and maybe steals 10 the rest of the season...whereas Crawford hits 5 homeruns, 30 RBI and steals 30+ the rest of the year.
what ever you do, do not offer Crawford for Beltran straight up
I cant believe he didnt accept that trade. THat would get vetoed in any of my leagues. Beltrans a top 5 pick , where crawford was middle of the pack.
lol. 35 homer OFs are a helluva lot more common than 70(!) base stealers.
crawford is hitting for a significantly better average and will probably triple beltran's steals total. in a roto league where steals is a category, that one player (crawford) can give you as many points (and probably more!) than beltran. look at it this way: how many points do you lose from having 30 less homers vs. having 40-50 fewer steals?
now don't get me wrong, i'd probably take beltran, but it would be a REALLY tough decision.
