Eddie Guardado? Jose Mesa played in more games but he walked in his one plate appearance.

Everyday Eddie is a good guess. He was 2nd on the list but he did bat earlier this year against the Dodgers.

Tom Henke? I think he spent his whole career in the AL.

Eddie Guardado was second with 639 games (pre 2004)

So with 679 games, the Ans would be Buddy Groom. 679 games pre-2004. I don't think he got an AB this year.

Tom Henke had 642 games, but did have 1 AB in 1995, he spent his last year (1995) with St Louis.

Accepted as answer by utterchaos on Thu Jul 08, 2004 8:37 am EST.

I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. -Crash Davis

Shoot, I forgot about that. Now that you wrote that, I remember he had a pretty good year too. Ah, well, I was close.

Just checked about Groom for this year, 4 games in NL parks but still no AB.

If he gets an AB, who will be the leader? Since #2 got knocked out already this season.

When I figured it out Groom was up to 705 games and still without an at bat. Here's the top 10

Buddy Groom 705
Bob Stanley 637 (he did strikeout in the 1986 World Series though)
Mike Fetters 597
Mariano Rivera 551
Tippy Martinez 546
Mike Flanagan 526
Steve Farr 509
Mark Clear 481
Edwin Nunez 427
Mark Gubicza 384

I was surprise Groom has pitched in that many games.
