When you look at the stats it really isnt all that surprising. In the month since he came back from that injury he has hit over .320 with 6 hrs (there's your power!) and 14 rbi...i do realize that a month isnt a very long time at all, but when you figure that he did all of this in his first 83 big league at-bats its pretty amazing, and now he's batting in the 3-hole for the Twins so one would expect the numbers will keep piling up. I would pick this guy up in a heartbeat is i didnt already have V-Mart or Pudge.
This field, this game, it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh people will come Ray, people will most definitely come.

I would still feel more comfortable with Javy and Piazza though
But yes him in the three hole is very very interesting especially with Ford in front to him and Koskie and Hunter for protection
I always found it funny where people say he doesn't have any power - even on this board I've been argued against that he will not hit ten bombs this year. I actually said he'd hit 20 as he hits the ball hard almost EVERY time and is still in AAA as far as pitching goes in the Central!
He's a stud, not as valuable as Prior, but an absolute phenom, to bad he will be taking over for Posada in a few years
Earlier this season I was watching a Cubs game and they were saying that Prior was the second overall pick in the draft. And that got me thinking "Who went first? He better be damn good."
A little research and I find out it was Mauer. And he is pretty damn good.
Kind of cool that we're starting an era where there are a bunch of young stud catchers (Estrada, Martinez, Mauer, C. Wilson (although he's been moved to the field due to Kendall)l

pudge piazza posada lopez martinez
are all much better players.
Well considering what Mauer has done in his first month in the bigs i think we can expect great things from him over time...and 5 yrs from now you'll be putting him at the top of that list.
