Another awesome showing by Sheets today, and he was pinch hit for after 115 pitches. As we approach the All Star break, the Yost/Maddux combo in Milwaukee gets props for refusing to take chances burning Sheets out. He's thrown no more than 120 pitches, except for one start where I think he reached 121. And thanks to this pitch management, Sheets is looking perhaps even stronger now than he did earlier. What makes this even more impressive to me is that given the Brewer finances, the chances of Sheets being with this franchise beyond 2005 are shaky at best.
No question in my mind Sheets might just be able to maintain the impressive first half numbers, so I don't consider him a "sell high" candidate. Also no question in my mind that Yost would (or at least should) be a runaway NL Manager of the Year winner if the award were handed out today.
