Phil Nevin left Sunday's game in the fourth inning with a right knee injury. The Padres said that he has a possible cartilage tear. He was to be examined Sunday night.

Padres first baseman Phil Nevin will undergo surgery on his right knee this morning and be sidelined for two to six weeks.

"Likely it's in the range of three to four weeks," General Manager Kevin Towers said last night after getting the preliminary results of an MRI exam conducted in the afternoon.
