The one sign that shows Tex is going to be a great hitter; his OBP is almost 100 points over his batting average. That is a key sign. Tex only played one year of minor league ball, in 2002, and he absolutely raked. I'll admit, I had some doubts when he was hitting .185 in mid May but he has turned it around. I believe he will be a consistent .300 hitter. Just wait and see.
Ya he won't be like Adam Dunn redux. I think he was the 5th pick in the same draft that Joe Mauer and Prior went 1-2. I think thats pretty impressive. He was killer in the minors and had a good season as a rookie. The only bad thing that could happen is hes dealt to like the Pirates for a pitcher. (Benson) His numbers would go down in that craptacular lineup.
Is he THAT good? probably not, but to say this is a sh!tty little hot streak is flat out dumb. I pegged him as a huge sleeper earlier this year, and in most leagues I made what I was beginning to feel was the "wrong" decision between he and Miguel Cabrera, whom I placed in the same category.
I said a couple of weeks ago, though, when Tex was starting to get hot, that I'll bet he at least matches Cabrera for the rest of the season. Anybody think that's an out of line prediction about now?
but i traded blalock for glavine towards the end of may, thinking that tex (who i had on my bench) would match blalock's numbers.
Although you were smart to reason that Tex would match Blalock, I'd still way rather have Blalock than Glavine.
I have to say that in my about ten fantasy leagues, I own Tex and Blalock more than anyone else, and right now, I'm feeling pretty damn good about it.

I think he could be close to posting those numbers, but in his Prime/Career year(s). Not right now, cause very few can keep up those type of numbers. Though I doubt he could ever keep his avg. that high.
If he keeps playing like this, then yes. But I think Ortiz is going to be up there, and I think Sexson will still be ahead of him. Hes putting up a very nice month so far. Ive enjoyed waiting him out!

Oops forgot about those two, Sexson will have the injury black cloud, also could throw in Giambi probably, but point is that he's probably entered the solid starting tier easily
Giambi has been pretty bad AVG wise to where he has worst average then Tex or Adam Dunn. Tex in a full healthy season in Texas can probably match any power numbers Giambi will give you. I think the .260 Giambi is the real Giambi on the Yankees.
