Red Sox closer Keith Foulke has been wearing a patch of an American flag on the side of his baseball cap.

Apparently not everyone is so fond of American pride, however, as the commisioner has ordered that it be removed and never be worn again.

what's the harm in the flag. let the guy show a little pride.

I just read that too...I guess they don't want anybody standing out. It's called the "MLB dress code". ;-)

Think so? I'm sure the same thing or worse would've happened if sunnny kim were a korean flag and suzuki were a japanese flag. Would that be stupid too? :-)

I believe there should be an U.S. Flag on all uniforms, not necesarily the hat, but it should be somewhere.

Guess they can't get a licensing fee on the flag, so it's verboten.

Actually, this is a result of the current labor agreement that states no player can make individual changes to any part of the uniform, including the cap. That's why players weren't allowed to affix a "57" to their caps after Darryl Kile died.

Montreal wont be in Canada for any more than a year, and does anyone really care about Toronto? (besides Jackal and Mookie :-b

Personally, I just think it's kinda funny. Who really cares, as long as it's equal for everyone? I think he can live without the flag on his cap, and MLB can live WITH the flag on his cap. As long as everyone is treated the same, it's a non-issue.

I don't really like the decision made by MLB...but they do have to enforce the rules as they are....and if they let Foulke get by with it...what is to stop Choi from putting a Korean flag on his hat...or Sammy from putting a Dominican flag....or Gange from putting a Canadian flag... :-?
