In the few leagues that I drafted him, I have stubbornly held onto him, figuring if he could get hot again, he could be a somewhat valuable commodity. Now that he's been traded to the Mets, he seems to have been rejuvenated. Last year he finished with very respectable numbers, after a slow start, and he is a notoriously hot September hitter in particular.
Is anyone the least bit confident that the worst is over for Hidalgo? Or will his poor attitude (an assumption by me, considering there is little other explanation) eventually get the better of him once more?
I can't give you an unbiased opinion and I never paid a lot of attention to him when he played in Houston. But I like what I see since he came to NY. Maybe a change of scenery is what he needed. He has incredible presence in the batter's box and greater balance then I ever realized. I think he's shown he can handle Shea's large dimensions but oh well I'm just gushing now because I am happy with the trade.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
Seems to be a streaky player to me. I picked him up and dropped Casey Blake from the util figuring Blake was at the end of his run and Hidalgo would produce for another couple weeks til I could move on to the next hot flavor.

supposedly, the mets found the flaw that was hindering hidalgo in his swing and have corrected it. Apparently, its working. However, its odd that the astros organization couldnt figure out...
