i wouldn't drop patterson for him... i mean, crap, patterson is starting to figure it out and he's like, .287/10/30/9 or something, hitting .300+ish, and best of all, he has responded well to criticism from chicago fans, even getting bunt/infield singles somewhat regularly.
jason bay has had a nice month and could be a surprise player, much like jody gerut was last year, but that has yet to be seen. still .300/8/26 for a month is not bad, almost keeping pace with the almighty vlad.
I probably would drop Gerut for Bay, and in the case of Kolbsaves, I'd probably drop Bautista for Bay as well, Bay just has much more upside, and, if you were fortunate enough to have added him prior to yesterday AND had him in the lineup, there's virtually no way your decision could have been wrong. Yesterday wasn't the only thing he's done anyhow. I picked him up in a couple of other leagues today, but in the ones where I really needed OF help, I've been using him for about 3 weeks and he's been awesome.
David, or Donald, Newhan is playing 3rd for Mora while hes hurt, the kid is playing so far over his head its ridiculous, you could pick him up and play him now but as soon as he stops I would drop him like a bad habit.

hmm I'm not sure, Bautista is on another tear (actually better than Bay in the last week) and he's proven he can go on hot streaks with his fast start this year

I had him ever since he got off of DL. I dropped him two weeks ago because of inconsistent playing time and missed his good week last week but luckily picked him back up this week. Unfortunately did not start him this week but very glad no one else has him though. I have been watching him as much as I can and he looks so much better lately. He has a hop in his step and is just more confident and quicker at the plate. What I mean by that is not just his swing but his presence and demeanor.

You could make a convincing case for Bautista over Bay, but Bay already has more HRs and RBIs than Gerut in only about half of the ABs. Gerut has more steals, but also hits for a lower average. Bautista maybe, but I would DEFINITELY take Bay over Gerut.
