Hey guys, got a question for all of you. We all knew Beltran was rated very high this year because he is a potent threat in all categories, including the elusive steals categories. But part of the reason that I always though Beltran was overrated was because he didn't have the power. I mean coming into this season, he never hit 30 dingers in a season. I believe his max was 29. But this year, it seems as though he's going nuts, he's already at 19, and at his present pace, I believe he is due to hit 42 homers this season. My question is...
Did anybody expect this kind of power from this kid? Has he bulked up for this year? Or is he the same size, and he's just getting lucky? Has he been training for power? Or what's the deal with this kid? And finally, do you think he can keep this power trend up for the rest of the season, or will it slow down the 2nd half?
Getting out of KC and into Houston should Keep his power Numbers right about where they are. If he was still in KC I would say he would have slowed and finish around 30ish. In Houston, 40 is a good possibility.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. -Crash Davis
Stewie : [watching a baseball game] Why does that man drop his club before he runs? I would bring it with me!

Yeah, Houston and Minute Maid were the best thing to happen to him fantasy wise.
I'd have to say that his rampage vs. the Cubbies would have to be a portentious omen or at least an indication that he's 'happy' w/ the way things turned out!! Even if the 'stros lost the series...
He hit 27 last year while missing a lot of time, and is still pretty young, so I don't really find it very surprising. I was expecting 35 or so, and a little above that is nice, but not shocking.
welp, beltran typically is a lock for 30+ steals, however he seems more capable of swiping 40+ than hitting 40+ homeruns.
so with him, i tend to pencil him in for 25 HRs and anything beyond that is a bonafide plus. this year he seems wholly capable of doing 35-40, and i think he's a second half player a la mister guerrero, so beltran owners seem to be pretty lucky cats this season.
tho abreu seems to be back in the ballpark in terms of 30/30 supervaluable people, altho i think vlad's still going to be more valuable when it's all said and done... this guy might score 130+ runs, hit 40, drive in 130+, and hit .340 with 10-15 steals tossed in for good measure.
in other words, like the ME logo to the left might suggest, long live mister guerrero.
