Hey-
I was reading the list at baseballnotebook.com of the top major league prospects. I recognize some of the names of the Mets that he has listed there, but not all. Anybody got any info?
"Justin Huber, c, New York Mets: Expected to start the 2003 season at Single-A St. Lucie, look for him to rise through the farm system quickly now and to make his major league debut within two years. He's going to be the best-hitting catcher in the majors when he's in his prime and I believe that in his future, he has a .330 major league season with 35-40 home runs, even if he only plays the typical 120-130 games a catcher gets. You could loosely call him the next Mike Piazza.
22. Jeffrey Duncan, of
54. Craig Brazell, 1b
66. Jose Reyes, ss
74. David Wright, 3b
97. Francis Corr, of
and the pitchers...
11. Jaime Cerda
21. Peter Bevis
96. Heath Bell
98. David Byard
Now, his list is for overall potential, not the ability to make it to the majors soon, which explains why Reyes is so low. However, the absence of Kazmir blows my mind.
Does anybody know anything about these guys? Thanks,
Hank

Also - I don't like that Raider's Umpire guy. FYI.

There will come a day when Barry Bonds leaves baseball, and everything about the game will be the better for it.

Interesting. If everything in that article is true than the Mets should have a very bright future....

hmmmm ..... posted in dec 3 2003, and i started posting in the cafe december 14, 2003.... :-D :-D

as far as their farm system goes, i consider it weak right now due to some crazy trades last summer,,,,but hopefully the draft from last year will help restock some of their pitching as they have a good young offense in the majors right now......
