Top Ten Prospects Right Now?

I wouldn't say he is a ways away. He is in Double A right now and though he has struggled some, if your in double A your just one call away from the bigs. I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the 2nd half of next year.

No offense to Overbay, but I doubt he gets in the way of Fielder.

I think that Fielder is the best hitting prospect in the minors. Unless the Brewers management is stupid, I think they will trade Overbay after this year for some pitching. Fielder is ready to play in the Majors now, and I think he'll win a triple crown in a decade.

Also, I'm not as high on Upton as many people are. Sure, he's talented, but it's still very raw talent. Overall, though, my list was meant to be more of a long-term prospect list. These guys might not necessarily help next year, but will be stars within a few years.

He is only batting 250... Overbay has become a quick fan favorite though and a cog in the middle of the lineup - not saying he's better then Fielder, but definitly won't rush him with such a great player holding his spot in the top level!

If the original post is looking for impact this year or right away next year go

1. Upton
2. Morneau
3. Wright
4. McPherson

then a bunch of gambles

I'll give a top 10 list, but take note mine is mainly on potential plus how they have done this year...

1 - Upton - plays a premuim position plus he is very young
2 - Wright - flat out can hit
3 - Fielder - top notch power potential
4 - Kotchman / Morneau - both are very good, Morneau might be no longer be technically considered a prospect though
5 - Felix Hernandez - wrote a nice thing on him in the prospect forum
6 - Edwin Jackson - struggled some w/ his control though he still has great stuff and lots of potential
7 - Andy Marte - been hurt some, but very big potential
8 - Dallas McPherson - can mash, top notch power
9 - Cole Hamels - would be higher if he had pitched more, but when he has he's been dominating
10 - Rickie Weeks - been up and down this year, but plays 2B and I think he just needs some time to get adjusted better.

Where's Cain, Francis, Kazmir, Kinsler, Santana, and young?

At the top you will see I said a lot of my list is based on potential also taking into account some of how they have performed this year. Which is why I didn't include those players you listed. You could make a strong case for Young and Santana. Kazmir would be in the top 10 if he had pitched well this year, but he has struggled with injuries. The rest to me don't have the upside of the ones I listed.

No mention of Delmon Young in anyones top ten list? thats a bit odd, the guy may be the best hitter right now in the minors, the only knock on him is that he won't come up this year since Upton and Gathrights seem to be ahead of him on Lou's list. Look for him to hit 20-25 hr his first year if not more.

Delmon Young is not the best hitter in the minors, he has the potential to be though. He has played well in the minors so far, but that is just Low A. His stats have been good, but nothing earth shattering. Unless his numbers are really big, it's hard to list a Low A player in the top 10. But if you want to base a top 10 list on just potential, then yeah he would be in there.
