I looked at my league standings today; yesterday, I was in te middle of the pack comfortably and today, I'm in last.
My team that looked great in April is now livin' it up in the cellar. I'm looking at the roster and I don't see a last place team. Can you guys explain it (NOT ROTO)?
My team (day 1/now) *-on both teams, but switched positions
C - Varitek, Hammock/Varitek 1B - Teixeira, Millar*/C.Wilson )picked him up 2nd day of the sesaon), Hafner2B - M. Young (moved to SS), Spivey/A.Soriano 3B - Burroughs, Ensberg/Hillenbrand, Burroughs SS - Crosby, Cintron/Renteria, Crosby LF - Pujols , Burnitz*/Pujols, Holliday CF - Baldelli, Cameron/ Baldelli, Burnitz RF - Maggs, Dye/Maggs, Millar SP - Mulder SP - Oswalt SP - Webb SP - Jerome Williams SP - Myers SP - Horacio Ramirez/Cliff Lee SP - none/Lieber MR - Felix Rodriguez/Takatsu MR - Farnsworth/Worrell MR - Valverde/Gordon CL - Smoltz
CL - Looper
CL - Herges/Urbina
This team went down over 300 pts in June amd went from a high of 2nd place to last (from "wild card" to 300pts out of "wild card" and 400pts out of first). I don't know how it happened, but there must be some reasons.
what happened is Maggs is hurt....Soriano is playing like crap.....Oswalt is just starting to pitch to his potential....Webb should be cut....Renteria is crap right now......Varitek and Burnitz have cooled off.
I also have Oswalt, Soriano, Maggs, and did have Webb and Burnitz before I cut there asses. But I am still in Second place because I have a better supporting cast then you do even though Mulder and Pujols are awesome.

.297-12-45 with 37 runs and 8 steals on the year.
.325-6-16 with 19 runs and 3 steals in the last month.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
it is an eight man league. We only carry 21 guys too, there is just not enough room to carry all the good pitchers. It is fun though because there are always guys on the FA list that can actually play.
Soriano has picked it up lately...but considering I picked him ahead of guys like Vlad, Pujols, Beltran, Manny, Thome...I am still disappointed.
not sure about your scoring so that might have something to do with it ..
but if it were my team, I would move Wilson to C and Pujols to 1B, thats where they have the most value. I would then start shopping Varitek and Renteria to find me a 3B and another OF. They should be able to fetch a nice upgrade there. So then you would have ..
Crosby has been playing up to his early season expectations after getting off to a slow start. You will get a better 3B for Renteria by name alone. He is still the best SS in the NL right?

SOunds like a good plan but Wilson is not eligible at catcher
welp, you know, depending on how competitive the league is, its quite possible to get buried early, or just not do that good early, then look like absolute shite down the stretch.
i'm in an ultra-competitive league where nary a save goes by unclaimed and the such, and well.... i started off pathetically in offense, decent in pitching (save the wins category) and now even tho my team has played as well as anyone's (by my estimation) i'm perpetually in 7th-10th place, losing 2-3 points on days where i did pretty good.
my team isnt all that terrible either, tho when you look at the first position i list, catcher, yuo can see what i mean
c - posada
1b - frank thomas
2b - jerry hairston jr
ss - edgar renteria
3b - rob mackowiak
OF - vladimir guerrero*
OF - sammy sosa
OF - pat burrell
util/OF - corey patterson
bench/1b/OF - phil nevin
bench/2b/SS - tony womack
bench/OF - alex "drrrty" sanchez
SP* - carlos zambrano, roy oswalt, carl pavano, derek lowe, jake westbrook
RP - mariano rivera, danny kolb, chacon, julio
the * denotes that i traded mark prior, carlos lee, and oliver perez for vladimir guerrero, phil nevin, and jose reyes at the end of may, so i havent had a full season of vlad, still, he's basically put up .339/8/33/5 with 24 runs in that month i've had him, which is fine by me. prior has pitched well, but only has one win thus far, so i'm thinking i might have done OK, especially seeing as my offense is stagnant (like 2/3/3/8/5 respectively) when speaking euphemistically.
so yeah, i dont see any glaring holes in my team, but at the same time, i dont see me finishing higher than 8th when its sall sauid and done. thats because i suck, naturally.
