Postby Freebird27 » Wed Jun 30, 2004 8:06 pm

This is the first week that the players just drafted in the MLB draft can be claimed in my keeper...Assuming that the SP's will be ML ready sooner..who has the most upside? Weaver...any of the 3 Rice SP's? anyone have the lowdown on fast track new prospects? or a good site to read on them beside baseball america?

I've watched the rice pitchers, I'd say Humber has a pretty high upside as he's a pitcher and not just a thrower. He could be maddux like. Niemann throws really fast, he's really good. I'd say maybe a 2 or a 3.

As far as pitchers go, I'd say (in no particular order) Niemann, Verlander, and Bailey have the most upside of all the pitchers in the draft. And to be honest not many of the hitters have that big of an upside. It was a pretty weak draft for position players. I do like Chris Nelson though, to me he was better then Bush. As a bonus he will play in Coors and that is always great. He is a H.S. kid though so he is somewhat risky and will most likely take longer.
