Well with the stros offense struggling a bit they have to play a bit of small ball (hence steals)

But once those bats wake out. Wow.
He won't steal at all.

He stole one today. Even with the studs hitting behind him he is still going to steal beacuse he is good at it. Maybe not as much, but some...
Don't try to strike everyone out. Strikeouts are boring besides that they're fascist. Throw some ground balls it's more democratic. - Crash Davis

I think Beltran was overrated because of his steals. When was the last time he stole a base? I know he still has only 14, and Matt Lawton is doing better than him.

1 SB tonight...

the steal was on a 3-2 count hit and run on which Berkman struck out

very decieving if you're just judging it on the stat line

Thanks for the insight! I didn't get a chance to see the game, but you're right, the stat line is quite deceiving. I wish, I wish, I wish...he will keep stealing! :-o

Four weeks is a pretty tight window to fall out of the race and make a decent trade. I'd like to see it just because I can't remember (if ever) a player being traded twice at the deadline (not counting funky 3-team deals).

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Two things,
1. Beltran's SB % is extremely high, so when he runs, its not a huge risk.
2. Didn't we say the same thing with A-Rod hitting 3rd ahead of Giambi and Sheffield? And look at what he's done. ;-)

With Carlos as the #1 pick in three of my four teams, He will make my season if he does what he has the potential to do . Right now I'm anxious but cautiously optimistic. B-)

Are u kidding me? The guy has 17 bombs and 15 steals! That is fantasy gold, speed, power and decent average, hitting on a team that will knock him around and give him RBI opportunities. Without the steals, he is still a very solid pick. You throw in the steals and he is gold. You can take Lawton, I will take Beltran.

Not to mention he is one of the most notorious second half players. Lwaton will bow down to Carlos by seasons end!

Read closer before you jump on someone's back. He said Lawton is doing better than Beltran and not that Lawton is better than Beltran. Lawton has played just as well as Beltran this year, so I guess you'd call him fantasy gold thus far too and a more solid pick, considering he probably went towards the end of the draft if at all, while Beltran went top 7 or so in most drafts.
