Kearns or Upton? Who will be more valuable the rest of this year. Kearns will be out another 6 weeks and Upton will be up before then, but which one will be worth more from this point till the end? Is there any other Call-Up or injured guy that will produce more than these guys the rest of the year?
Are you filling an extra roster spot or are you filling a starting position? If it's an extra bench spot I'd take a gamble on one of the young call-ups but I'd look elsewhere if it's a starting position.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
It's a roster spot that might never be used, but I would like to gamble on a youngster, just wondering which one. Upton, McPherson, Wright, Morneau seem to be good gambles, is there anyone else to consider?
Austin Kearns requires surgery to remove scar tissue from his right thumb. He is expected to miss another four to six weeks. (Updated 06/29/2004). FANTASY ANALYSIS Kearns will have a bone spur, callous and scar tissue removed on Friday. Ryan Freel and Wily Mo Pena will continue to split at-bats in right field while he is on the mend.
tough call, my man. i would have to say kearns because of his experience, and because the extra time his shoulder has been allowed to heal (from last year). it's a hand injury, so the only thing he'd be missing is his timing. as an extremely talented hitter, his swing won't take long to return.
