laugh all you want. little may have been belittled by the boston fans and media, but he was actually a good manager. just that pedro was stubborn...
Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll drown because you forgot to teach him to swim.

I agree. I completely disagreed and felt bad for Little when he was fired. He did a hell of a job with that team, and even if he took Pedro out and the bullpen blew it, he would've been flamed. It was a lose-lose situation for him and it wound up costing him his job.

Baseball guys in Boston can do whatever they want, be as successful as possible, but screw up once, and they'll never forget it. Buckner in the WS, Little in the ALCS, whose next? I predict Nomar in the ALDS
"Jack, will you call me, if you're able?"
"I've got your phone number written, in the back of my Bible."
It's not that they screwed up once, it's when that once happened. Do it in April and it's not a big deal, do it in October/November and it is a big deal.
Exactly......but it's still one time. Whose to say that if not for them, they woudln't have even been in a situation where screwing up would matter? If Little's only mistake is leaving pitchers in too long, that can easily be fixed: tell him not to. Firing him over that seems stupid.....but if there were other reaons, maybe it was justified. I don't like upper management appeasing fans/clients since it's useless for the most part, but I guess it has to be done to protect their image.
