What happened to Billy Koch?

Postby bjm97 » Tue Jun 29, 2004 10:56 am

He was a scary and dominant pitcher over his first 4 years (averaging 36 saves) and then the wheels came completely off. Anyone have some insight to what happened to him? Reminds me of that pitcher for St Louis who couldn't find the strike zone, or John Rocker. Tons of promise and a great begining before crashing and burning.

Velocity used to get to 100, he now throws 94 tops, closer to 93 and 92. His fastball has always been straight, so without gas, he's nothing. Plus, his control is absolutely horrific. Curveball has improved this year, though.

Seems like a Rick Peterson miracle in that year with the A's.

yep, you can only do so much with only one pitch... something thats also gonna be an issue with Hawkins somewhere down the line...
Manny Ramirez....$20 million
Pedro Martinez....$17.5 million
Curt Schilling...$12 million (and a $2 million bonus)
Never hearing a Yankee fan chant 1918 again...priceless.
