Rafeal Palmeiro?

What do you guys think of him? Are you hanging onto him? Is he worth keeping on your bench even if you have a fine option at 1st? Or is it OK to cut him loose?

Considering he has been batting clean up behind Tejada, Mora and co all season his RBI totals are poor. As I predicted before the season started he was in serious decline and expected him to hit no more than 25 HR's this season. Considering he hasn't hit less than 38 the past 10 years that was a big call but now looks justified and I based that on his serious decline in SLG and OPS the last 3 years and because he was moving away from a hitter friendly park.

No way is he a starting 1B anymore but adequate as a back up on your roster.

Like Edgar he should have retired last season. It is sad to see these great players going past their used by date.

At the beginning of the season....I would not have agreed with you...but now I must admit you are right...both of them have seen there last fantasy season...and most likely there last MLB season... :-/

I like Palmeiro as a platoon utility guy if you have the room, as he's still putting up decent numbers against righties. Hitting .283 with a .871 OPS vs .184 / .564 against lefties. He also has much better numbers at home than away. Probably won't be drafting for him next year, but I'm also not going to dump him this year.

Don't you love waking up and seeing that the your team (in this case the O's) pounded the opponent 10-1. With Christmas-like anticipation you open the box score .... and there's your lump of coal: (Raffy) pulled another Ofer-4?

I picked him up in a trade banking on his RBI production. I'm wondering if he'll be able to hold that spot in the lineup much longer. It's dire.

I decided to drop him for Nevin. He will produce more.

How in the world is a .290 guy with 50 RBIs on the wire?

He's under .180 the past three weeks. Raffy has pretty consistent Pre/Post splits so I don't expect him to catch on fire after the break. He may even falter further. Nor do I expect Mora to generate as many RBI Opps.

If I were in a 10-team I would be looking to upgrade on the wire. In most 12-teams the pickin's are pretty slim so it would be hard to replace the RBIs.

Well it is a 10 team league, I was surprised to find him there though, he should be solid for me.
