FCC...out of control?

Postby wkelly91 » Sun Jun 27, 2004 9:17 am

Let's try to have a non-name calling thread here. ;-)

I'm wondering what people think of the recent surge of FCC fines?

Do you feel that Republicans are using the FCC as a tool during this election period? Does that bother you?

Is timing right on this based on some of the content going out on the airwaves?

Will both parties now use the FCC to try to control speech while they are in control? Does that bother you?

If you feel they have gone too far...where do you draw the line?

To be honest, I don't think that Powell, to be specific, is using the FCC to help his party. However, I believe he's using his own belief system to censor the air. I'm not in favor of that.

I really hope, though, that it doesn't become a partisan tool. Other than Stern--and let's be honest, the guy does need a better censor--I'm not sure how Powell, or the FCC in general has censored along party lines.
I'm back. Sorta.

I think its great! All this garbage that gets broadcast on the radio and TV makes me sick! From Janet to Howard to Oprah.

I dont think it has anything to do with an election period. I think its more the stuff that is aired has gotten to a very low point.
