I watched the game. He was great in the 8th. In the 9th, he lost his control and was only throwing fastballs. Didn't walk Bonds intentionally, just lost control. Too many fastballs and AJ was waiting on it and hit it out of the park.
Maybe the catcher was calling for too many heaters instead of mixing it up with his curve and changeup. In the 10th, he threw more curves and was mixing his pitches better. Interesting that the A's didn't have anyone warming up during the bottom of the 10th and talk on TV was that Dotel would probably come in for the 11th as well. That would have been bad.
As it was, I'm hoping that the catcher is partly to blame and that Dotel will mix his pitches better. He had a great curve in the 10th.
