You've made your bed. The thing to do now is make it as comfortable as possible. If you could give Vlad and Dye and get only Abreu back as a position player, you must be fairly set in the outfield.
That makes your obvious need a quality starter. OK, now you've got perhaps the most tradeable closer in the game on your staff. Swap Gagne for the best starter you can get your hands on, and this can still turn into a good all-around deal for you.
I was in a football league last year where a guy accepted the trade and then asked to have it vetoed. Said he didnt realize how good Tomlinson was. No one traded with him the rest of the way and everyone called him out on the message board.
Its just a basic unwritten rule in fantasy.
Sometimes the guy you trade for gets injured during the veto process. That is when it really sucks. I did it last year with Big Unit and had to sit with him on DL most of the season. Never did I think to ask for a veto because he went down though!
You are in a good situation either way. You can easily trade Gagne for a top pitcher.

Player for Player you are coming out on top, so if you then trade a closer for a starter (You should be able to get a top SP for Gagne), then you still win. I wouldn't even want to veto it, even with the DL guys you recently have. Abreu is a big upgrade from Dye and then I would trade Gagne for someone of the caliber of Schilling, Schmidt, or Mulder. I know in my league Gagne would fetch those types of starters, but I don't know your system. The way I see it, you have a nice problem to have especially when those other SP's come off the DL.
