Coincidentally enough, my buddy and I were playing softball the other day and he caught a ball barehanded and we both said Kevin Mitchell.

If it was late in Mitchell's career it wouldn't have made a difference. He was so fat that his hand was probably more padded than a standard glove. He was listed at 210 but was probably closer to 310 toward the end. Talk about a sad waste of talent.
His career ended largely because of a leg injury -- they only walked in one direction: the buffet table.
Trying to think of other post-WWII who essentially ate their way out of baseball (i.e. their sad lack of basic fitness sortened their careers usually via weight-induced stress injuries)
Mo Vaughn
Cecil Fielder
John Kruk?

Hopefully we wont have to add Colon to that list, but he is just a fat piece of lard.

Another classic
Bo Jackson did it, as well as running up walls and breaking bats over his knee

Anyone remember when Wade Boggs pitched for the Yankees in 1996 or '97 and struck a batter out.

How embarrassing....
