Well, that's the first of this to come from either political campaign. So it isn't so much fighting fire with fire, per se. It's more of an unprovoked attack.
And it's nasty.

I don't agree with it, but it is interesting the reaction you get from Liberals when their own medicine is spooned back to them.
In my opinion, the real nasty political mudslinging got its start in the Nixon White House, went a little further during the 1980 ABC (Anyone But Carter) campaign, began to soar to new levels during the 1988 campaign of Bush Sr, and has become a trademark of the Republican party. I pause here to remind you of the Chambliss campaign against Cleland, where a triple amputee was compared to Osama.
But I know that I'll never convince you that the Republicans started this. It doesn't matter anyway.
What matters is not "he did this first." That's a child's argument. What matters is that it's nasty and unbecoming of the President of the United States. You cannot claim the moral high ground on the basis of "Kerry did it first," especially when Kerry didn't do it first.
