Does anyone know if this means he'll be placed on the DL now? I would assume he'll be placed on the 15 day DL at least...which would make him worth a roster spot.

I don't think so. This will most likely be a minor league contract that matures into a normal contract when he starts playing with the big club. This is the way the Mets have handled these situations recently and it allows them more flexibility. From a fantasy perspective this sucks because it's not as easy to stash him but it makes more sense for Cleveland.

I saw that and since I have some open slots for long-term chances, grabbed him. We'll see. Risky at best

Good point Slomo. If I could stash him away on my DL, it would be a nice little gamble for later. I'm guessing if they actually signed him -- it's a "tentative deal", right now -- that he would of on their DL. That said, I probably wouldn't pick him up unless you have room to spare or a DL slot.

I just picked him up...I do have room on my DL. We'll see what happens in the next couple days, if it looks like they're doing what Amazinz said, then I'll dump him. I can't wait a month.

is Boone really worth a roster spot? i think this all depends on his ability to steal bases...he's a pretty average player if he's stuck to the bag...cleveland is near the middle of the pack in steals...with his injury, will he steal much? i'd like to think so and add him, but i think it's pretty risky at this point. what do ya think?

A. Boone has reportedly signed a two-year contract with the Indians pending the passing of his physical exam. He's on the FA list in most leagues, so if you have an extra spot you might want to take a chance on him. He'll be back in "a few weeks."
