Russ Ortiz to Yanks?

Postby rmeesig » Fri Jun 25, 2004 1:04 am

The Atlanta Braves are contemplating whether to make starting pitcher Russ Ortiz available and already have begun scouting the Yankees' prospects. Ortiz could present the Yankees an alternative to Seattle's Freddy Garcia

Would be interesting. I like him better than Garcia. I'm afraid the Yanks are going to blow what little chips they have on Garcia though. :-t .

ortiz walks WAAAAY too many batters to be successful at yankee stadium. i would not want to see him in a yankee uniform.
Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll drown because you forgot to teach him to swim.

As an Ortiz owner, that would be a great. He has proven that he could win 20 games if he has a solid offense behind him. Although it is likely that he will never get 20 wins again, he is sure to get more run support and wins as a Yankee. Not sure if I see it happening though.... :-?

I don't think Russ would be an upgrade over any of Vaz, Moose, Brown, Jose, or Lieber.

Yankees should stick with what they got. If anything, go get a CF that can cover some ground. It doesn't matter what pitcher you bring in if the men/man (Lofton/Bernie) patrolling your OF move like offensive linemen.

what he has proven is that a mediocre pitcher can win games when the offence gives hime a zillion runs...

I would love for the Yanks to get Ortiz. A patient team, like the Sox, would kill that guy. He walks so many batters it's absurd.
I'm back. Sorta.

Do not boo Johnny.
