The Liberal Media Bias is false...................we had a whole Politics class devoted to this discussion, and most of it flew over my head since I hate politics, but at the tie I seemed convinced. I know this isn't terribly convincing but just adding my 2 cents.

I don't think there is any conspiritorial meetings or talking points sent out by Terry McAuliffe, but seeing as how the vast majority of media admits to being Liberal, they can't help but report from their worldview.

Let me ask - did any of you even attempt to read or understand the study I originally posted?

I didn't. I've read and heard enough studies to know the media is bias.

Cornbread - you know that I read the article. Unless I missed it though, there wasn't enough discussion of the think tanks that are quoted. How many are there that are considered liberal? How many are there that are considered conservative? Is there a discrepancy between the two?
I'm not sold that this is a good method, either. It doesn't account for context at all - i.e. if Fox News were to say "Liberals are stupid. Here's what a stupid liberal think tank said..." then your study would count that as a liberal slant to the news.
Also, there is no preference given to the amount of bias from each given think-tank. Think tank A is slightly conservative and it is given the same weight as think tank B - a neonazi group? That's silly.
Let's also talk about the authors bias - he says that "Although we expected to find that most media lean left, we were astounded by the degree." If I were going in, I would expect to find a conservative bias.
I've got other problems with the article, but I don't want to bore you or crash the cafe's server with them.

Oh, and wkelly - seeing as how the vast majority of editors and owners of the media openly admit to being conservative, they can't help but slant the news towards their worldview.

If thats the best you can come up with AA you have nothing. News agencies are owned by corporations and Rupert Murdoch etc.

That doesn't mean that Rupert Murdoch sits at Fox HQ in the newsroom and approves all the copy.

Most of the Anchors, Editors, and copywriters are admittadly Liberal and will put their stamp on the news.

here's a study that "proves" that there is a conservative bias. Do I buy this one? Nope.

The media has a bias towards making money. They do this by reporting sensationalistic reports that get the public watching. How often is something about Scott Peterson on Fox? How is this really news?
