Delmon Young & Rickie weeks

How long do you think it will take for the D-Rays and the Brew Crew to decide it's time for them to come up? I understand it all varies but how long to you give either one of them.

Do either have promise written over them?

I think both of them are going to be very very good players, they have great athletic ability. I would expect Weeks to come up for a bit this year and hopefully be ready for a full year next.

They're both uber prospects (Weeks is better IMO) and could both be called up at any time. I'm expecting to see Weeks by the end of the season and Young sometime next year.

I'd probably take Young over Weeks in the long run.

1) With any combo of Crawford/Baldelli/Gathright/Huff/Upton hitting in front of him, there's sure to be TONS of RBI opportunities. Whether they remain the TAMPA BAY Devil Rays or not, they'll eventually see people flocking to see them and become a larger spending team.

2) Weeks has only 6 steals (5 CS) and 50 K's in 229 AB's. That could obviously change since he's only 21 in AA.

My personal preference is Young @ 18 in A-ball over Weeks @ 21 in AA-ball. I just believe Tampa in the long run is going to be an offensive jugernaut(sp).

Weeks most likely will just get a Sept. Call Up this year. Unless he makes some rapid progress will start in the minors next year as well. Then it all depends on how he does. Could be up by the All Star break or sooner, but if he struggles obviously later.

Young will at the earliest get a Sept. Call Up also, but next year... not this year. Depnding on his progress I could see him making a push for the 2006 starting line up, if he doesn't make it then. Most likely will get the call up whenever he shows he is ready.

Not sure exactly what that means, but I'm going to take it as "Are they a sure thing?" No prospect is a real sure thing, any can turn into duds. But I think both are top prospects that should pan out. If I had to pick one it would be Young at this point. BTW don't think I'm saying that just cause I'm a Rays fan. Weeks hasn't performed to his potentional yet, which is the main reason in choosing Young. Delmon has shown his potential, and overall is playing very well for an 18 year old in A Ball.
