Brilliant question. I think I know, though I did it knowing only a few of the people on the list (in fact, many I have never heard of).
Dave Kingman, who I hated as a met fan, is actually David Arthur Kingman.
Jackie Robinson's middle name is Roosevelt.
Shoeless Joe's middle name is Jefferson (thank you Field of Dreams for getting me interested in him)
Answer: Based on just these, it looks like they all have middle names that are also US Presidents. If this is correct, could you post all the middle names?
By the way, this took me forever to figure out. At first I thought they might all be right handed or something, but shoeless joe was a lefty. Then I thought maybe they have something to do with HR or K's, but again, Shoeless Joe wasn't really big in either category. Besides, you have several pitchers here, so there must be some other type of connection. I started thinking about where they were born, but of the three above, 2 from the south and one from the West. Then I started to look for similar letters in their names, which led me to writing out each of their full names.
