Luckily I had periodic access to the Internet over the holiday. I actually like the all-star break because it allows for a breather just when it seems the season is becoming a blur. It's a moment for reflection on the first half, and a chance for people lagging in leagues to plan their second half gambles (i.e. Moises Alou, Juan Gonzalez, Mark Prior etc...) to reach for the top.

I was on but missed all you Americans posting so had forced withdrawal compounded by the taunting of sustained access. Double whammy.
I'm off to the lake for a week soon and will have a significant withdrawal issue as I'll have to defer to the paper and miss the trade deadline on-line.
Woe is me.

I'm using this time to make plans for my second half run. If anything it gives us all a chance to get back to reality and start again with a fresh mind. I would say my fantasy woes all stem from thinking too much. You know giving up on guys too soon, making guys into players they are not. Just giving the term fantasy baseball an even truer meaning. This give sme a chance to get back to reality and ake some smart moves. I love fantasy baseball though. What did I do during the winter months??? I can't remember.

winter is for fantasy hockey - its a disease. used the bball model to get way more analytical than necessary. 12 forwards, 7 defence and three goalies. Categories
goals
assists
total points
clutch - powerplay goals and assists
shooting percentage
plus/minus
penalty minutes (I don't like this one personally - would rather designate a specific number of goons)
half category for goalie wins
half category for save percentage.
hard salary cap $22. one year keepers (i.e. two years including auction year) for a restricted number of players depending on auction year.
With both baseball and hockey you get the joy of pennant/playoff races accompanied by auction prep.
Life is good.
