Carl Crawford - this year's Juan Pierre?

He's tearing up the basepaths and he has 4 triples this week!

He's batting for average and stealing a lot so all that remains is the runs; will he get 100 runs or near there like Pierre did last year? Also, will he keep stealing 10+ bases every month?

I'm in a points pool and he's only valuable if he puts up Pierre-like numbers, but if he puts up the same as last year then he's not really worth owning (.280 average, low SLG, etc.)...

What do you think?

I think he will stay on pace and get 100 runs this year. And there is no reason for him to stop running, so he will continue stealing bases all year. He should end up getting more rbi's then Pierre to. I like Crawford more and I don't think I am really being bias in thinking that.

Crawford is going to be the top base stealer in the bigs for the next 5-10 years. I'd put him at right around a .295-300 average. Plus he has way more power than Pierre. Way more power being say 10 home runs in a couple years compared to Pierre and his one home run.

Crawford was pretty awesome last year. His performance this year is no suprise to me.

I'll give the poster the benefit of the doubt - maybe he wasn't in fantasy last year. But it's true that from July 1 until the end of the 2003 season, Crawford both out-hit and out-stole Pierre.

Unfortunately for me, Pierre is this years underachiever, so Crawford gets his fast guy spot.

I'm not sure that Crawford will keep hitting over .300 all season but he certainly knows how to steal a base.

The most disappointing thing about Pierre for mine, is the amount of times he has been caught stealing this season compared to the total he has stolen. Not a great conversion rate at all

Unbelievable on the bases but his .260 average hurts too much.

Crawford is so young as well. He might be the first player to attack 100 steals in 20 years in the next couple of seasons. Especially if someone with the potential of Upton is batting behind him. This Devil Rays team has lots of potential, but need to get the pitching together.
