Petco would be a bad spot to land....but Kauffman isn't that much of a hitters park anymore. They moved the fences back in the offseason. He's actually been MUCH better in almost every offensive stat on the road as opposed to at home this year. Over his career he's also hit more HR away from Kauffman, and that includes mostly stats before the fences were moved back. I don't think he'll change his approach much.......it's not like the previous Yankees leadoff hitter (Fonzi) tried only to get on base. Besides, like I mentioned, he's pretty much been batting leadoff all year since whoever is in front of him rarely gets on base and he's been #2 in the order. I'll stick with my guns and say every stat of his will get better, as long as he's not traded to SD which would probably see his HR decline.
"Jack, will you call me, if you're able?"
"I've got your phone number written, in the back of my Bible."

The yankees have one of the top catcher prospects in Dioner Navarro, and have an excellent AAA thirdbaseman in Eric Duncan. Both of them, coupled with some money, and maybe Lofton of Bernie (with their salaries paid for by the Yanks) I think is an interesting offer for the Royals.
Also, if he were to be traded to the Yankees, I would envision him batting second. I think they would rather have Jeter batting leadoff than Beltran, because they know Beltran is a better power hitter.
i really don't think the yankees need beltran. Bernie is doing a great job in the leadoff spot as him and jeter have been getting on base a ton lately. They have also won 18 out of 21 so i dont think there is any urgency to get a center fielder. IMHO it would send a bad message to the newer players they have gotten this year on team loyalty and lower motivation if someone was moved so suddenly. It would make them feel like there job is never secure which would decrease player productivity...at least in my opinion.
well yeah i agree with you in most cases, but they're winning so much now a move wouldn't make sense. A few months ago when bernie was hitting terribly i would have said the same thing about job security only the move would have been much more justified than it would be now.
I really don't think we need Beltran at all and I'm quite happy with the way Bernie's been hitting and his past history.
Instead, they should go for a starter like Johnson. If he becomes a Yankee, it would seem to be all over for everyone else. If he can't be had, I think the Yanks should either stay put or go after Garcia or whoever Boston wants
