My outfield is completely obliterated due to injuries...so I am thinking of sending Gagne packing to try and get someone in there. Gagne has not really be contributing to my team that much this season because he has not gotten in many games, do you think he will start pulling his weight and be more valuable then any OF I can get? I know this is kind of a trade question, but also a general question as to what the top closer is worth compared to a good OF guy.

I don't think any closer is worth a top offensive performer. But others feel differently, which is why Gagne went so high in almost every draft this year. I'm confident that if you offer him around, you'll get some stellar producers offered in return.

The problem with closers is that even the most elite such as Gagne do not command an elite field player. In drafts closers aren't picked until the 3rd round at the EARLIEST.

Not to say that you should accept Jeff Conine either. Just don't expect Pujols, Sosa, Vlad, Giles, etc.

Look for a high second tier guy like a Cabrera, Drew, Guillen, Dunn, etc.

Good luck! ;-D

Gagne went in the first round in my competitive 12 team money league...so I think you can get something decent in return...try to find the person who needs saves the most, and offer Gagne for his best offensive player.

Depends on your league and what stats they count. In my league we generally rotate 7 starters so gagne's K's, ERA, WHIP get sort of diluted by the starters. He went in the 1st round for us but I don't think he should have, I traded Hank Blalock for him and am pretty happy with the deal since I had Huff to backup.
