I don't know how many of you knew this, but I am crazy about the band "Creed." Well as many of you probably heard, Creed broke up recently. Mark Tremonti (guitarist), Scott Phillips (drummer), and Brian Marshall (bassist) formed a new band along with a new singer (Myles Kennedy). The band is called "Alter Bridge", and can be heard at: http://www.vh1.com/artists/az/alter_bridge/artist.jhtml

There is some absolutely incredible guitar riffs/solos in their first single, so I can almost guarantee their whole first album will be of similar levels. For those of you that don't know, Mark Tremonti is widely known as one of the most talented rock guitarists of this era, but he was never able to really express all of his ability in Creed, because Scott Stapp kind of took charge of that band, I guess you could say.

Anyways, if you are a fan of truly good rock guitar sounds, check it out, the song is great, and the guitar is incredible. I have no doubts that we'll be hearing a LOT more from them in the near future.

Tremonti is alright. There stuff is a little to cliche for me.The new song sounds like alot of the same. I prefer the harder stuff so maybe thats why I dont like it! When I think of great guitar players I think of Malmsteen, Vai, Satriani,! Thats what I dream I can do when I sit down and practice my C scale. It will never happen but I keep practicing.

Just out of curiosity, did you let the song play through till the solo? I could have sworn I was listening to an old Guns n Roses song or something....crazy how they went back in time for those few seconds.

The art of the solo has truly disappeared from most of today's music.

Yea I agree it has disappeared. Its all 5ths played over and over. While that can be good like White Stripes (although Jack can rip a solo)! It still is sorely missed in alot of todays music.

Ugh, I can't stand the White Stripes...no offense though, I'm sure a LOT of people can't stand Creed. ;-)

i totally agree.. Linkin Park and nu-metal's ruined everything :-D. even more reason to listen to heavy metal :-D :-D :-D

anyways.. despite creed being a "conservative" band, i liked creed also. nice band. dunno why.. id still say " My Own Prison" is my fav Creed album. they kinda watered it down imo in their last one.

Their most recent album, Weathered, actually had 2 of the "heaviest" Creed songs ever, just that they weren't played on the radio. I liked all the albums so much that I couldn't pick my favorite, I just wish they would have chosen the radio singles not based on what would sell albums...but that's the name of the game.

Apparently, Scott Stapp(Creed's singer) is working on making a hip-hop/rock album? Not sure how that's going to be? Doesn't sound too promising though, for a guy of such high talent...IMO anyways...
