Look, I realize that Jose had a good month last year. Great. Heck I hope Jose has a stellar career, I really do.
But 'Quessing' that he would bat .310 and hit 10 home runs the rest of the way is just absurd. He is a career .288 hitter in the minors, which project to the low .270s for the majors. Plus he has never hit 10 homeruns in his career. NEVER!!! ... His previous high is 8!!!
8!!! Heck in over 1200 minor league AB's ..... he has a Grand Total of 13.
He best asset is speed. He is very fast.
Oh, and he has very tempermental hammies, as we all know.
But .310 and 10 homers .. is just a little high in my estimation.

Reyes played in 69 games last year in a weak lineup that was stricken with injuries. I agree that he probably won't hit 10 HRs but he hit 5 last year in 274 ABs. If he comes back healthy and stays healthy he could see 100 games in a lineup with (a little luck) Piazza and Floyd hitting behind him. I don't think .300 is unrealistic but .280 is probably a safer guesstimate.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

What gets me is that he has had around 5 major muscle injuries by the age of 21. Why are the Mets just now having him get looked at by the good doctor??
I am not sold on him for much of anything this year.
I'm watching him right now. He looks good. Hitting the ball hard and not running tentative at all. Hit a long long bomb to Center that was caught in the first.
Trying to find out more info. Will post more if I find anything out.
