and theres a few things i dont like too much from a fantasy perspective...
*never been a good K's pitcher...
*not a good whip guy even back in Japan...
*and last two years there, he wasnt dominant as he had been in the past...
*in 03, his last year there, he walked 21 and struck out 26 giving him a K/BB of .8 and a tinsie
*allowed almost twice as many HR's in his last two years (02 and 03) as in the previous two (00 and 01)...
*his IP and apperances were down in the last two years.. of course i wasnt there to see him so there couldve been other random reasons but i still dont like it.
*finally... this year his grounball to FB ratio is .85.. on the lowish side for a guy who relies on his sinker and is doing so well.
my final take... he IS 35... not as dominant at all as people are making him out to be... but as long as he gets a few saves without blowing up, hes gonna be valuable obviously. but you have to say that the unfamiliarity factor is helping him a lil right now. hopefully hitters dont figure him out too much, so that he can get by his 85 mph high heat and he hang on to it.... but next year (i hope im not looking too far ahead ).. hes a guy you wanna avoid even if he does do good this year.
Of course, even for this year, its still seems like a CBC, so Oziie still doesnt have full faith in him. therefore its no guarantee that he will keep the job.... and of course he could blow up so...
SELL HIGH... to owners who think hes a stud and definitely will keep the job this year. i just got up this morning and i already have a couple deals in the works involving Takatsu
i kinda posted this in another thread last night but that thread got buried real fast. but i think that its important eneough for me to make a thread of its own.
