will jgiambi ever hit for average again?

maybe last years .250 average wasn't a slump, and to expect a .300BA from him is crazy now?

any chance he can hit for 300+ again...like he did with the A's?

I'm not a Giambi fan. He's 33, so chances are we've seen the best he'll ever offer. His OPS is down for the fourth straight season from its peak in 2000. I have little confidence that he'll return to the days of a .330 average, and should pleateau around .250-.275, likely closer to the former.

Giambi = Dunn in a Yankees uniform...meaning he will have a .260 average, but a lot of HRs, RBIs, and Runs due to the potent lineup.

Last year we were complaining about him being in a slump... :-/ ....and now he has continued this year....I think we have passed slump and gone into consistency....of the wrong kind.... :-P

unfortunately, I think the Dunn reference might be right... :-o

Dunn reference might be extreme. How about Thome?

Except Thome can sporadically hit for average while still fanning more than Grandma in Georgia heat.

When I watch him, I see a different hitter from his A's days. He used to have a great understanding of the strike zone but now he swings at everything. :-/

I think a Dunn reference is kind of ridiculous. Dunn is a .230 hitter that k's nearly 200 times a year and hasn't hit over 30 hrs yet. Giambi is still capable of .280, 40 homers, 120 RBIs IMO. Maybe not this year but he still has that in him. Thome or Delgado would be a more reasonable comparison. Adam Dunn? :-t

I think the move to the Bronx has caused him to try and pull everything to the right field seats, consequently lowering his average.
