can brad penny keep this up?

Hes been performing very well so far this season. However, his career numbers were never this good, and i projected him to be a mediocre 4 era pitcher. Can he keep this up?

Penny is for real. He was a top 10 prospect on some lists, including Baseball America, in 1999. He just turned 26 last month, though it seems like he should be a little older. But more importantly, as his coaches have said all year, he's matured from a thrower to a pitcher and that's why he's turned a new corner. He should a low to mid 3s ERA pitcher.

Why wouldn't he? All four years prior to this he has been at least a .500 pitcher. As for his career numbers not being that good.....How many young pitchers (besides freaks like Prior) post good numbers at age 21, 22, etc? The guy is legit and will be so for a long time to come.

I think this is the big part of his success this year....he has moved away from thinking he has to throw the ball past everybody...and has learned how to place the ball and rely on the seven guys playing behind him... :-)

as long as he keeps that mentality....he is good to go... B-)
