Who is the only pitcher to record a loss in a game where he was 'perfect' through the first 9 innings?
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. -Crash Davis

I think it was Jim Vaughn on May 2, 1917 for the Chicago Cubs. He was perfect through 9 against the Reds, hit in the 10th, and soon after lost 1-0.

Harvey Haddix was perfect for 12 innings on May 26, 1959; but lost the game in the 13th inning.

Jim Vaughn's game was a no hitter through 9, he did lose 1-0 in the 10th, Fred Toney had a no hitter for all 10 innings.

Didn't Pedro do something along those lines also? Or was that just a no-hitter?
