KC is reportedly looking for a 3B and/or a catcher for Beltran as the starting point. That's why SD has been so prminently mentioned. They want major league or "near major league" talent.

I would think that with Boras as his agent, he's for sure to test the free agent market, which would make his rent-a-player value much lower.
